United Nations in La-La-Land

One Hillel Neuer was tweeting earlier today from the UN Human Rights Council meeting.

The gravity of the event is encapsulated in his quote from the speech of the Sudani representative:
Israel spared neither women nor children, neither mosques nor homes...not even
trees.

Sudan.

The summarizes of the speeches from other countries were just as loathsome. Predictable, but loathsome.

Given the situation Israel finds itself in at the moment, I'm glad that I'm leaving in a few hours for my trip to visit.

When it comes to beauty, the ‘I’s have it
Armed and in uniform, there’s something so appealing about Israeli women

The fact that Sudan gets to give judgment on human rights makes me sick to my stomach.

Yaakov:
Having read your blog and knowing of your familiarity with Jewish texts, I am surprised that you (or Neuer) are mocking the Sudani comment. I presume it is for his reference to the trees. Perhaps I am giving the Sudani and you too much credit, but I assume he was referring to this:

"When you lay siege to a city for a long time, fighting against it to capture it, do not destroy its trees by putting an ax to them, because you can eat their fruit. Do not cut them down. Are the trees of the field people, that you should besiege them?"
Duet. 20:19

BTW, I (the guy who posted about the trees) love your blog and try to read it every day. I know you once mentioned concern about whether you are wasting your time simply typing into a vast vacuum that no one reads.
here is to let you know I read it.
Thanks.
